Best Thermostat Settings for Texas Summer (Save Money Without Melting)
Updated August 6, 2026
Most useful March–September in Sun Belt markets.
For most Texas homes in summer, set the thermostat to about 76–78°F when you are home and awake, 78–80°F when asleep if you sleep warm, and 80–82°F when away for several hours. Avoid large setbacks above about 5–7°F if your system struggles to recover in 100°F weather. Ceiling fans let you raise the setpoint 2–3°F while feeling similar comfort.
